Voice of the Oceans Educational, a partnership between the Initiative and Escola Concept.

Between the states of Santa Catarina and Pará, the Voz dos Oceanos crew has met about 50 initiatives aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and integrated in the urgent context of the Decade of Ocean Education for Sustainable Development. The vast majority were led by citizens who have taken on the role of transformers capable of reversing the alarming scenario of plastic invasion that is choking the planet’s oceans.

Now, Heloisa Schurmann, one of the leaders of Voz dos Oceanos, will share with the students of the three units of Escola Concept the experience they have had with the institutions that have integrated the Brazilian journey, launching a Design Thinking Challenge focused on environmental education. The initiative is part of the partnership between Voz dos Oceanos and Escola Concept, which operates in the cities of São Paulo and Ribeirão Preto in São Paulo, and in Salvador, Bahia. In total, more than 500 students from the elementary school II (6th to 9th grade) and high school (1st, 2nd and 3rd grade) have to go on this educational trip, which started with an exclusive presentation of Heloisa so that everyone understands the mission of the expedition.

The students are eager to see the selection of initiatives that can be found on the Brazilian coast, so that they can immerse themselves in these cases and think outside the box to present creative proposals that are able to solve any challenges and promote the development and growth of activities in a sustainable business. The partnership is fully in line with the objectives of Voz dos Oceanos and the performance of Escola Concept in Brazil, which combines innovation with education to reshape traditional teaching and give relevance, meaning, purpose and intentionality to everything it does.

This partnership is part of Voice of the Oceans’ education pillar, which includes projects for the public school system. Negotiations are currently underway with potential partners/investors to enable implementation.
